Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question? You will likely find the answer below. If not, please get in touch and we will be happy to help.
How long is a driving lesson?
Our standard lesson runs for 60 minutes. We also offer 90-minute and 120-minute sessions for students who want more intensive practice in a single sitting. Longer sessions are especially popular with learners preparing for their driving test, as they allow time to cover multiple routes and manoeuvres without feeling rushed.
What areas do you cover?
We provide lessons across Western Sydney, including Bankstown, Canterbury, Punchbowl, Lakemba, Greenacre, Bass Hill, Revesby, Condell Park, Campsie, and surrounding suburbs. We are also familiar with the test routes used at Service NSW centres in the area, so your practice sessions mirror what you will face on test day.
Do you provide the car for the driving test?
Yes. Our Test Preparation package includes use of the same dual-control vehicle you have been practising in for your official driving test. This means you will be comfortable and familiar with the car on the day, giving you the best chance of success. We also handle pick-up and drop-off at the test centre.
How do I book a lesson?
Booking is easy. You can call us on (02) 8834 5192, send an email to [email protected], or fill out the form on our contact page. We will confirm your preferred time and match you with an instructor suited to your needs.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We understand that plans change. We ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice may incur a cancellation fee equal to 50% of the lesson cost. No-shows are charged at the full lesson rate.
Are your instructors accredited?
Absolutely. Every SkillRide instructor holds a current NSW driving instructor licence issued by Transport for NSW. They also maintain valid Working With Children checks and complete regular professional development to stay up to date with road rules and teaching best practices.
Do you offer both automatic and manual lessons?
Yes, we offer lessons in both automatic and manual transmission vehicles. If you are unsure which is right for you, our team can help you decide based on your goals and the type of licence you wish to obtain. Keep in mind that passing your test in a manual vehicle allows you to drive both manual and automatic cars.
What should I bring to my first lesson?
Please bring your valid NSW learner permit (L plates), comfortable closed-toe shoes, and any glasses or contact lenses you are required to wear while driving. We supply the vehicle, dual controls, L plates for the car, and all the patience you need. It also helps to have a water bottle, especially during warmer months.
